Graduate student (Masters)

The Marine Microbial Ecology Lab at The University of Southern Mississippi will be recruiting graduate students at the Master's level beginning in the Fall of 2020. 

Successful applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree in the field of marine science (marine biology, marine ecology, oceanography, etc) or a related field and have experience/interest in marine microbial ecology, microbial interactions, marine virology or biological oceanography.

Lab Technician

The Marine Microbial Ecology Lab at the University of Southern Mississippi is hiring a Flow Cytometry Technologist. The technician will be responsible for

  • Develop and maintain proficiency with all benchtop
    cytometers and associated software and peripherals

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including
    data backup

  • Perform quality control and monitor instrument
    performance

  • assist in managing the laboratory and running of samples 

  • development of methods and associated protocols

  • training and supervision of users


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Lab, Chemistry, Biology or related field

  • have greater than 5 years lab experience

  • experience with flow cytometry
